Louisiana Crawfish Tails the Way to Go for Cajun Crawfish Fettuccine Recipe

Now, if you think I peel crawfish to make my crawfish recipes, you don’t know me well!  I always buy Louisiana crawfish tails in the bag which are available year round.  However, as the season approaches, the prices of the tails drop which makes it more enticing to cook crawfish recipes.  My crawfish pasta recipe is an easy recipe plus healthier and better crawfish pasta for you!.

Can you Freeze Louisiana Crawfish?

Stock up on crawfish tails when they are more reasonably priced during crawfish season. You can freeze them up to a year to have crawfish to pull out for last minute delicious crawfish recipes from Crawfish Pizza to a classic Etouffee.  Now, if you aren’t in an area where crawfish is readily available, be sure to check in the freezer at your seafood market or grocery. However, check the package to make sure it says LOUISIANA crawfish tails. You can taste the difference!

Crawfish Fettuccine from  Gulf Coast Favorites Cookbook

This is my southern standby crawfish recipe. When we have company I like this recipe because I can make it ahead of time and freeze it. The fettuccine and crawfish in this wonderful cheesy white sauce make a delicious healthy crawfish pastas recipe.  It gets requested all the time. I often double this crawfish pasta recipe when I have to serve a group.  My recipe to my rescue!

Makes 8-10 servings

1 (8-ounce) package fettuccine                                                                    crawfish fettuccine recipe best crawfish pasta for Louisiana recipes
1 tablespoon butter
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk
4 ounces light pasteurized cheese spread
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1 pound Louisiana crawfish tails, drained and rinsed
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 bunch green onions, chopped

1. Cook fettuccine according to directions on package. Drain; set aside.
3. In large nonstick pot, melt butter and sauté onion, green pepper and garlic until tender. Add flour, stirring until combined.
4. Gradually stir in milk until mixture is smooth. Add cheese spread and mozzarella, stirring until melted. Add remaining ingredients, except green onions and cook for 2 minutes or until heated.
5. Toss with pasta and green onions.

  1. The written recipe is way different than the one in the video. No mozzarella cheese, evaporated vs. skim milk, and why does it say bake it??
