This Greek 7 layered dip includes layers of  cream cheese, hummus and fresh vegetables.  “Move over Tex Mex Dip” because my Mediterranean dip is better!! I keep it simple! There’s no reason to make hummus because buy premade hummus in the store. You’ll love the fresh ingredient layers. They make a colorful showstopper presentation on top the hummus and cream cheese layers. Also, make the dip ahead of time and refrigerate until needed. Remember, this dip is eating healthy and the perfect make-ahead dip. Look for different containers of flavored hummus. I love roasted red pepper and it gives the recipe extra punch! One of my favorite tips is to raid the olive bar and get quality olives in the amount you need. Serve this delicious Mediterranean Dip recipe with pita chips.  I have also served with fresh vegetable rounds.  I have used cucumbers and squash and bell pepper squares. Serves as an appetizer and leftovers make light salad-spread style meal.

Mediterranean Layered Dip from trim&TERRIFIC KITCHEN 101: Secrets to Cooking Confidence

Impress everyone with my simple Greek layered spread and my go-to and make-ahead Mediterranean Dip recipe. It makes one of the best Mediterranean appetizer recipes and always a guaranteed hit.  Fresh and simple! I never get tired of eating this dip.

Makes 16 (2-tablespoon) servings

1 (8-ounce) package reduced-fat cream cheeseMediterranean dip recipe best of appetizer dip recipes in KITCHEN 101
1/2 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
2 teaspoons lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste
1 1/2 cups roasted red pepper hummus
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1 cup chopped cucumber
1/3 cup chopped green onions
1/4 cup crumbled reduced-fat feta cheese
3 tablespoons sliced Kalamata or black olives

1.  In bowl, blend together cream cheese, yogurt, oregano, garlic, lemon juice and season to taste. Spread on large round serving plate.

2.  Carefully spread hummus over cream cheese. Sprinkle evenly with remaining ingredients and refrigerate dip until serving time.

Terrific Tip: Serve with pita chips or sliced vegetables. Make your own pita chips by cutting them into 6 triangles.  Bake at 375 ̊F.for 5-7 minutes.
