Most Googled Beauty Questions to 2016 with Answers and Beauty Tips

Can you guess the most googled beauty questions in 2016?  Beauty tips and tricks are more accessible than ever before, to anyone at anytime thanks to the beauty (pun intended) of Google.  If you have a question about a specific product or a skin condition, Google is a combination of your doctor and your best friend. In an instant, tens, hundreds, and even thousands of answers can be at your fingertips.   In an instant, tens, hundreds, and even thousands of answers can be at your fingertips. I was so excited when Alana from Skincare by Alana offered to share some of her most often asked googled beauty questions with me.  You know I am a skincare lover so I thought this would be a fun post!

Guess Most Googled Beauty Questions –Is Your Question on the List?

While Google recently released its top searches for 2016, the top most googled beauty questions searches were rather vague. Digging into those results a little deeper yielded the most pressing skincare concerns that people all over the world are searching for. Below are some of the most common questions and requests typed into Google last year when it comes to proper skincare solutions.

1. Dermatologist advice on face washing

While most of us have been religiously washing our faces since puberty, that doesn’t necessarily mean we’re doing it “right.” In fact, most people aren’t doing it the best way they can be. The American Academy of Dermatology has a wonderful step-by-step guide to help you properly wash your face so you don’t risk over-drying, under-washing, or irritation.

2. How to clean makeup brushes

With the art of makeup application taking off like never before, people everywhere want to make sure they’re taking proper care of their brushes and their skin. Dirty brushes can cause acne breakouts and clogged pores due to lingering bacteria. If you’re using them daily, they need to be cleaned often.

3.  How to get rid of bags under your eyes

Undereye puffiness is caused by retained fluid. Contributing factors can range from a salty diet, to the way you sleep, to simple genetics. Raise your hand if you’ve experienced the whole gamut of undereye conditions in your adult life *slowly raises hand*. We’re not alone, according to last year’s search numbers!

4.  How to get rid of dark circles

A number of reasons are behind the dreaded dark circles under the eye. Most common contributing factors are dehydration, lack of sleep, and even sun exposure. Luckily, plenty of treatment options are available (I mean, just ask Google). Whether you go the special eye cream route, or perhaps learn to expertly and strategically apply concealer, there is a perfect solution available for you.

5.  How to care for sensitive skin

Ah, sensitive skin. A personal skincare kryptonite for many of us. One day you’re perfectly fine, with soft and supple skin. The next day, you use the wrong laundry detergent or face wash and boom! Hives, rashes, and pimples, oh my! Ugh. Thankfully, there are plenty of helpful tips and tricks available online. The most common answer: go easy. On scents, creams, lotions, and serums. Drink plenty of water and eat lots of vegetables.

6.  Why am I still getting acne?

Yes, wouldn’t we love to know! Remember being a teen with an inflamed T-zone, just dreaming of the day you were a full-grown adult with clear skin? Yeah. We’re snorting about that one too. Some of us are wondering why we still get it, some of us are desperate to get rid of it, and some of us don’t know where to begin. Luckily, the AAD is one Google result you can trust to give you plenty of information about adult acne.

7.  What skincare products really work?

Finding the perfect products for our skin isn’t easy, and those perfect products can change over time as our skin type changes. Skincare by Alana has compiled plenty of lists and expert advice on our blog, covering every skincare topic we’ve come across as well as products that we believe in to help you, no matter what your condition or quest.

I also have a beauty product gift guide that I put up with some of my favorite products.  My cookbook Too Hot in the Kitchen: Secrets to Sizzle At Any Age includes the fun Diva Dermatology chapter with great insight on foods and facials made with everyday ingredients.  Have fun on Alana’s blog or try a homemade mask.  We are all about beauty!
