My Favorite Ideas for What to Give for a Gift
Have you started making you holiday to-do list but it has you wondering what to give for a gift? Look no further than my Christmas wish list of favorite and 12 top unique kitchen gadgets! It is no secret that I love to cook and give food like my Cranberry White Chocolate Holiday Bars from my Too Hot in the Kitchen: Secrets to Sizzle At Any Age cookbook as a special treat to friends, neighbors, teachers even doctors – but I also love these special tools that help me whip up those trim and terrific treats all year long. Now I am excited to share my list of unique kitchen gadgets with you to help answer that age-old question of what to give for Christmas! I use these gadgets and appliances in my kitchen and you know I cook a lot!
Mini Spatula is One of My Top Unique Kitchen Gadgets
Used My Mini Spatula On My Recent TV Segment- Perfect Size for Bar Cookies
When I was on the 700 Club someone was selling Pampered Chef and I bought this Mini Spatula. This has been one of my most LOVED unique kitchen gadgets that I bought it for stocking stuffers for everyone I knew.
It is the perfect size to get bar cookies like my all-time favorite Ooey Gooey Bars and my Blonde Brownies with Christmas M&M’s. Also Great to easily pick up cookies too.
Coffee Lover’s Favorite Coffee Maker
As a coffee lover, my daughter’s boss told me I HAD to get this Moccamaster Coffee Maker. I ordered it and to my surprise it didn’t have ANY frills and was expensive. I almost sent it back because it had no timer, no grinder, no nothing! But, the people at Williams Sonoma also said it made the best coffee ever – and they are all right! It cleans so easy and you don’t need a timer as you get coffee in minutes. This is a hidden gem because don’t advertise – people find this brand from word of mouth.
Now, they make one with a heated plate to keep it warm. I am a coffee drinker and grind my own coffee beans fresh every morning, however, I went through so many coffee makers with grinders that always quit working. So I have found this separate Cuisinart Coffee Grinder works well.
Not So Basic KitchenAid Mixer
I have always used a KitchenAid Mixer. In fact, years ago my daughter came home one day from a friend’s house and said they were making cookies and she didn’t have a KitchenAid. They were using a hand mixer and Haley thought a mixer was called a KitchenAid (just like tissue we call Kleenex).
I do even recommend the KitchenAid Hand Mixers as I bought my NYC kids one as storage space is an issue. Kitchen Aid is the best mixer no matter which size you get.
Silicone Oven Mitts and Grips
These Mini Silicone Oven Mitts sat in my drawer for a long time because I couldn’t make the switch from plain-old pot holders. I finally pulled them out, and I should have done it a long time ago!
I also like these colorful Mulftipurpose Silicone Pot Holders. They help me grip my trim and terrific recipes hot out of the oven. The mitts are easy storage if you are short on space, and they make great stocking stuffers!
Cuisinart Food Processor Large and Small
I had never used a mini Cuisinart Food Processor, but I love Cuisinart brand as much as I love a KitchenAid mixer. I cook in such quantity as I am always testing lots of recipes or preparing food for TV so I got used to the larger size.
However, at my mother’s house she pulled out her mini Cuisinart food processor and to my surprise, I LOVED it. It’s just the perfect size for a quick dinner, easy clean-up and easy storage. And makes a great gift for college kids or when cooking for two. My mother surprised me with one and now I use mine all the time.
Kitchen Scissors Are A Cooking Must Have
Kitchen Scissors have been my favorite kitchen gadget for many years. They are a must-have! How can anyone not have kitchen scissors?
Multi-functional from cutting pizza to trimming chicken. I pull my kitchen scissors out all the time. They are even great to snip green onions! You will find more uses for them than you ever knew.
Crock Pot Cooks Dinner For You
OK, I wasn’t a crock pot kind of girl but when I was writing KITCHEN 101, I wanted to include a Crock Pot Chapter and asked my Facebook group what if they wanted crock pot recipes—OMG I was shocked at overwhelming response!
I immediately bought a crock pot and started testing recipes. The only negative about a crock pot is I have a home office and smelling the food cooking all day makes me STARVING! KITCHEN 101 even includes a crock pot symbol throughout the book to highlight slow cooker recipes. Perfect to have a homemade dinner waiting for you when you get home, and these Slow Cooker Liners make clean-up a breeze!
Make Your Noodles Fun with Spiralizer
Now for a unique kitchen gadget that I am dying to try! The Spiralizer is a fun and trendy vegetable slicing tool that will have kids and adults looking forward to their veggies. From zoodles (zucchini noodles) to swoodles (sweet potato noodles) this makes low carb meals a breeze.
Have the kids help you pick our what vegetable to use. I can’t wait to get my grandkids in the kitchen to help me spiralize our next meal!
Instant Pot is On My Christmas Wish List
The Instant Pot is another one of the unique kitchen gadgets that I want to try. Is it the new crock pot? The new pressure cooker? There is lots of hype around this kitchen gadget and there are even cookbooks specifically for it so I am putting it on my Christmas wish list so I can see what its all about. I hear everyone loves it and if you are interested in a time saver, make ahead pot….here you go!
You Will Love This For the Kids Especially When You Don’t Know What To Give For A Gift
My daughter recently bought this Smart Oven and I think she has talked everyone into getting it. It is such a multi-purpose oven. Her toaster oven broke and this was her replacement. For those that only have one oven, this serves as a second oven. She loves using all the features where you can cook a pizza, reheat, dehydrate food, air fry and so much more. Great for small kitchens as this oven does it all!
You Will Love This For the Kids Especially When You Don’t Know What To Give For A Gift
Wondering what to give for a gift for kids? I bought this Lil Bit Kids Crawfish Boil Set as a gift last year for my grandchildren and they love it and play with it all the time! The kids live in Dallas but they sure know and love Louisiana crawfish like I do.
And while you’re at it, let the kids taste how delicious Louisiana crawfish is with my classic Louisiana Crawfish Etouffee recipe.
Make Holiday Parties Extra Easy With these Unique Kitchen Gadgets
And now for over an adults-only gift – I love my chardonnay and hate opening wine bottles. But, my son-in-law LOVES this Automatic Wireless Wine Opener so this is definitely going on my Christmas wish list. How many times does the cork break or get stuck – but not with this easy, one-touch button. Just in time for all those holiday parties!
My Favorite Gift of All – My Cookbooks Top Your Christmas Wish List!
Last but definitely not least on my list for what to give for a gift this holiday season – of course my trim and terrific cookbooks! I am passionate about making a difference in people’s lives and my cookbooks make home cooking easier! I know you find recipes online but you can trust my recipes – as I have tested them all and I take my own photographs.
My #1 comment nationwide is that you already have the ingredients in your home. Healthy cooking is about a lifestyle and with my cookbooks you can easily cook healthy and eat healthy, I promise!
What to Give for a Gift? How About My Cookbooks But You Must Use Them
My challenge is that you have to use my cookbooks and not try the same recipes over and over because there are so many good ones. I said 25 years ago, “Good food can be good for you” and I am still around saying the same message – no fad diets here! I hope to be in your kitchen with whichever cookbook fits your needs.

I have the instant pot and the new air fry toaster oven and love them both. I want those silicon mitts!! And I also want to meet you at your book signing tomorrow.
