Best Combination – Louisiana Crawfish Jambalaya- Easy Crawfish Recipe!

Louisiana crawfish and jambalaya are two staples that define this region.  What a treat to combine the two for this delicious Speedy Louisiana Crawfish Jambalaya  recipe from my Gulf Coast Favorites cookbook! Cajun flavor, combined with Louisiana crawfish and reduced-fat smoked sausage.  Serve over rice for one of our favorite healthy Cajun recipes. Try using brown rice to easily boost fiber.  Did you know 1 cup of rice equals less than 1 gram of fiber and 1 cup brown rice equals 3 grams of fiber.  Make this easy switch for added nutrition. This healthy easy recipe makes a quick dinner on busy nights. This isn’t the traditional jambalaya recipe but it’s one of my favorites. I think it will be yours.  Easy and tasty!

5 Minutes and 5 Ingredients for Best Crawfish Jambalaya Recipe

It isn’t called “Speedy” Louisiana Crawfish Jambalaya without good reason. This super quick and easy crawfish recipe is only 5 ingredients. Plus, it uses the best short-cuts for fast flavor! I love to buy Louisiana crawfish tails when they are in season. Then, I freeze them. I pull them out and whip up my trim and terrific Louisiana crawfish recipes year-round! This recipe is made with pantry friendly ingredients and you probably already have the ingredients. I simplify healthy cooking. Also, did you know one-half cup salsa is equal to one serving of vegetables? Add salsa to your favorite recipes to sneak in those extra veggies. I always include tips for eating healthy and small changes make a difference. Crawfish is a great source of protein and low in fat. I bet you never thought about crawfish as a healthy seafood option but you should!

Speedy Crawfish Jambalaya recipe from Gulf Coast Favorites cookbook

Talk about easy, and talk about good, my Cajun healthy crawfish recipes rock! Serve over rice.  I used this easy crawfish recipe for the new Children’s Museum in Baton Rouge.  Now, kids shop for groceries and make their own crawfish jambalaya. Of course, it is all pretend there but they get to take home the recipe! Louisiana is known for its crawfish. Now, everyone around the country can enjoy this easy crawfish recipe.

Makes 4- 6 servings

1 (16-ounce) jar chunky salsa
8 ounces reduced-fat smoked sausage, diced
1 cup Louisiana crawfish tails, rinsed and drained
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1 bunch green onions, chopped

1. In large nonstick skillet, mix salsa, sausage, crawfish, thyme and 1/3 cup green onions. Bring to boil, reduce heat and cook 10 minutes. Serve the jambalaya over rice.

Nutritional information per serving: Calories 140, Protein (g) 13, Carbohydrate (g) 14, Fat (g) 1, Calories from Fat (%) 10, Saturated Fat (g) 0, Dietary Fiber (g) 1, Cholesterol (mg) 67, Sodium (mg) 766, Diabetic Exchanges: 1.5 very lean meat, 1 starch
