Ahi Tuna Tacos with Wasabi Cream and Mango Salsa from Holly’s men’s health cookbook, Guy’s Guide To Eating Well.  The fiery Wasabi Cream brings just the right amount of heat with the savory seasonings of the seared ahi tuna, topped with out-of-this-world Mango Salsa! If you’ve never been adventurous with tacos, here’s your chance with this simple tuna tacos recipe.

Do not be intimidated by this gourmet sounding seared ahi tuna recipe as it is so simple to whip up. Dig in and impress! This recipe is from the fun and whimsical trim&TERRIFIC cookbook, Guy’s Guide To Eating Well– full of healthy, easy recipes simple to prepare.  Tuna, rich in tryptophan, a natural sedative, makes this casual quick tuna taco perfect for an easy relaxing dinner. Plus, Tuna is full of heart healthy omega 3 fatty acids. Forget the traditional taco condiments because the fiery Wasabi Cream and fresh Mango Salsa is all you need.

Ahi Tuna Tacos with Wasabi Cream and Mango Salsa
Tuna is fast cooking and fast preparation and combined with the fiery Wasabi Cream and the freshness of salsa, you have a marvelous meal in minutes. I have included two salsa options, as I couldn’t decide which I preferred.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Servings 4 tuna tacos
Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 10-12 ounces ahi tuna 1-inch thick
  • 2 teaspoons taco seasoning mix
  • 4 flour tortillas
  • Wasabi Cream see recipe
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Servings 4 tuna tacos
Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 10-12 ounces ahi tuna 1-inch thick
  • 2 teaspoons taco seasoning mix
  • 4 flour tortillas
  • Wasabi Cream see recipe
Instructions
  1. Heat oil in pan until hot. Season tuna on both sides and add to hot pan. Sear for 1 minute per side or until fish is cooked on the outside, but rare inside. Set aside.
  2. Heat tortillas in microwave with a damp paper towel to cover for 30 seconds. Fill tortillas with tuna, top with Wasabi Cream and salsa of choice.

Wasabi Cream
The cool creamy mixture goes great with seasoned tuna.
Servings 1 1/3 cup
Ingredients
  • 1/3 cup plain nonfat yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 1/8-1/4 teaspoon wasabi depending on taste (already prepared wasabi makes is so easy!)

Mango Salsa
This fruity salsa with sweet mango, mild avocado and spicy jalapenos makes the ultimate complement to tuna tacos.
Servings 1 cup
Ingredients
  • 1/3 cup chopped avocado
  • 1/2 cup chopped mango
  • 2 tablespoons chopped red onion
  • 1 teaspoon chopped jalapeno
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
Servings 1 cup
Ingredients
  • 1/3 cup chopped avocado
  • 1/2 cup chopped mango

Instructions
  1. In small bowl, combine all ingredients.

Holly's choice:  Have you ever used a tortilla warmer --it's an insulated microwave pouch that keeps the tortillas warm for one hour!  LOVE this product for serving tacos! Have you ever used wasabi in a tube?  Great way to have wasabi on hand for all types of recipes. Wasabi is sold in most grocery stores as paste or in small container where sushi is.

Get Mangoes Fresh or Canned for Mango Salsa

Did you know that mangoes have aphrodisiac properties, increase virility in men, and are loaded with vitamin E helping to regulate hormones? Keep these miniature colanders to drain fruit or when you need just a small amount to drain.  You can find fresh mangoes but usually you have to cut them, however, in the grocery they do have them pre-sliced. You can also use canned mangoes in this salsa and you really can’t tell the difference!
