Crave-Able Shrimp & Meaty Pasta Family Style Meal

Talk about a flavor explosion! Shrimp and Italian Sausage Fettuccine from Gulf Coast Favorites cookbook has layers of melt in your mouth, mellow white wine dripped shrimp and pasta combined with a sweet zing of Italian sausage to create one deliciously crave-able family style meal. You won’t believe what the secret ingredient to sweetening up the Italian sausage? Diet Coke – such an easy ingredient for a rich, touch of sweet sauce!

Shrimp and Italian Sausage Fettuccine
This exceptionally flavorful dish combines lightly cola sweetened Italian sausage with fettuccine, creating a dramatic pasta finale that will tantalize your taste buds.
Servings 6-8 servings
Ingredients
  • 1 package fettuccine 12-ounce
  • 8 ounces Italian sausage crumbled
  • 1 cup diet cola
  • 1 pound medium peeled shrimp
  • 1 can diced tomatoes and green chilies 10-ounce
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup white wine or cooking wine
  • 1 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf Italian parsley
  • 1 bunch green onions chopped
  • 1/4 pound fresh mozzarella cut into small pieces (optional)
Servings 6-8 servings
Ingredients
  • 1 package fettuccine 12-ounce
  • 8 ounces Italian sausage crumbled
  • 1 cup diet cola

  • 1 can diced tomatoes and green chilies 10-ounce
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup white wine or cooking wine
  • 1 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf Italian parsley
  • 1 bunch green onions chopped
  • 1/4 pound fresh mozzarella cut into small pieces (optional)
Instructions
  1. Cook pasta according to package directions, omitting any salt or oil. Drain and set aside.
  2. In nonstick skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove from heat and gradually add cola, stirring. Return to heat and cook until cola is reduced to 1/4 cup, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
  3. In another large nonstick skillet coated with nonstick cooking spray, sauté shrimp about a minute. Add tomatoes and green chilies and garlic, cooking 3 minutes. Add wine, cooking and stirring until shrimp are done. Stir in parsley and green onions, cooking one minute.
  4. Toss pasta and Italian sausage with shrimp mixture. If desired, top with fresh mozzarella, and serve.
