New Orleans Muffuletta Sandwich Recipe For Party Pick-Up

My easy muffuletta sandwich recipe is my go to appetizer as my husband is always inviting people over for games or get-togethers.  Who doesn’t love a New Orleans muffuletta sandwich? What’s great is this recipe is perfect for last-minute guests or you can also make these muffuletta sandwiches ahead of time and freeze.  Whether you call it a  Muffaletta  or Muffuletta sandwich recipe, I have the BEST muffuletta sandwich that I make from in my Gulf Coast Favorites cookbook.  The mix of sweet bread, salty olive salad with creamy cheese and ham is SO delicious that you will want to keep them on-hand too! I use sliced turkey but if you don’t want ham-either way this simple New Orleans Muffuletta Recipe I use for minis can be made on larger Hawaiian Rolls also.



My New Orleans Muffuletta Sandwich Recipe is Make-Ahead and Freeze

Whenever I make these scrumptious sandwiches, I always make extra as they freeze so well.  If making extras to freeze, make sure to freeze before baking. When ready to serve, I take out a little ahead of time as they defrost quickly.  Just put them directly on a baking sheet.  I think any time you come to my house, I have these in the freezer.  Many times I pull these yummy sandwhiches for my afternoon snack.

Everyone loves sliders so I think of these as an easy-to-make Mini Muffaletta Slider.  Satisfying with great flavors, you can serve any time of the year. The ultimate party slider with a feast of flavors. Also, my favorite rolls to use are the King Hawaiian Mini Rolls

Mini Muffalettas from Holly Clegg trim&TERRIFIC Gulf Coast Favorites

All it takes is four easy ingredients and 15 minutes for you to prepare my popular version of this Louisiana favorite Italian-style sandwich.  Make these sandwhiches ahead of time and refrigerate or freeze until ready to bake.

Makes 32 – 40 Mini Muffalettas

2 (12-ounce) packages party-size rolls (16-20 to a package)
1/2 pound thinly sliced lean ham
1 1/2 cups shredded Italian five-cheese blend
1 (16-ounce) jar chopped Italian olive salad, drained

1. Preheat oven 375°F.
2. Split rolls in half, lay on baking sheet. Divide ham, cheese, and olive salad onto each roll.
3. Replace bread tops. Bake 10-15 minutes or until cheese is melted.

TERRIFIC TIDBIT: Any combination of cheese may be used such as mozzarella, provolone, or Parmesan. Remember, freeze Muffalettas before baking. Here’s the brand of Olive Salad Mix I use but you can usually find an Italian mixture on an olive bar and then just chop it up.,
