My Easy Meat Sauce Recipe Is Healthy Meat Sauce and Makes Best Quick Dinner

I specialize in healthy easy recipes that you can make in less than 30 minutes. So, I wanted my healthy meat sauce recipe to be quick. I used fresh vegetables and then combined them with a jar or marinara sauce.  That’s the short cut!  Why is this a healthy meat sauce?  Well, I use ground sirloin which is the leanest cut of meat.  Remember to select leanest cuts of meat and look for those cuts ending in “loin” or “round.”  Then, I tossed in yellow squash and zucchini to pack in more nutrition. Always think about adding extra vegetables to all your recipes to eat healthy.

Easy Meat Sauce recipe from KITCHEN 101

By using a jar of marinara with fresh vegetables, you get an easy spaghetti sauce recipe that’s great with any pasta.  Also, remember this healthy meat sauce freezes well too and make extra to freeze.  I stack in zip top bags to pull out when I don’t want to cook. Makes 8 (1-cup) servings

1 large onion, chopped
1 medium yellow squash, thinly sliced
1 medium zucchini, thinly sliced
2 pounds ground sirloin
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
1 tablespoon dried basil leaves
1 tablespoon dried oregano leaves
Pinch sugar
Salt and pepper to taste

1 In large nonstick skillet coated with nonstick cooking spray, sauté onion, squash, and zucchini about 5 minutes. Add meat and garlic cooking over medium heat until meat is done and vegetables are tender, 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease.
2 Add marinara, basil, oregano and sugar. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 20 minutes or time permitting. Season to taste.

Terrific Tip: This easy spaghetti sauce recipe freezes well and I like to freeze in individual zip-top freezer bags to pull out for meals. The squash may be left out, if desired.
