Who doesn’t love pizza? When you can have easy hot out-of-the oven quick pizza recipes with healthy pizza toppings in the comfort of your own home, why order out pizza?! Pizza is a dinner favorite of all ages and I have a healthy pizza topping with mouth-watering Louisiana crawfish!  With all fresh ingredients you can whip up this quick pizza dinner last minute for a fast and healthy dinner. I love pizza because you can top it with so many veggies-be creative with healthy pizza toppings – add your favorite! Make Your Own Frozen Pizza with my Easy Pizza Recipe

Did you know you can freeze pizza?  What is better than to pull out a homemade pizza from the freezer for an easy healthy meal?  Make my quick pizza recipes and don’t bake until after freezing.  Just wrap the crawfish pizza with plastic wrap and then I usually put in a freezer zip-lock bag.  Keep in the freezer for a super easy ready-made-meal to pop out on those last minute nights.  Did you know you can freeze crawfish tails? If you aren’t in Louisiana, you might look in the freezer section of the grocery for Louisiana crawfish tails.  Also, I buy bags of crawfish tails and freeze in freezer zip top bags to make my best crawfish recipes year round.

Louisiana Crawfish Great for Homemade Healthy Quick Pizza Recipes

Even more than I love pizza, this Southern girl loves Louisiana crawfish!  My Gulf Coast Favorites cookbook includes the best crawfish recipes and all healthier!  Louisiana crawfish season is from late February to mid-May, however, I stock up on tails now. and freeze to enjoy in Louisiana crawfish recipes year round! It is important to read the label VERY closely and make sure the country of origin is USA and not just ‘Distributed” in the USA.  Also, Louisiana crawfish are a great source of protein, as well as low in calories, fat, saturated fat and a good source of vitamins – including biotin, calcium, iron, niacin, phosphorus, selenium, Vitamins A, B-6, and B-12.

Crawfish Deluxe Pizza from my Gulf Coast Favorites cookbook
Crawfish and a great assortment of my favorite fresh ingredients make this an amazing pizza.

Makes 6 – 8 slices

1 (12-inch) thin pizza crust
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon dried basil leaves
1/4 pound sliced mushrooms
2 cups fresh baby spinach
1/2 pound cooked, seasoned peeled crawfish
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup chopped red onion
1/4 pound fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced or 1 cup shredded, part-skim, mozzarella cheese

1. Preheat oven 400ºF. Cover crust with olive oil and garlic. Sprinkle with basil.
2. In small nonstick skillet coated with nonstick cooking spray, sauté the mushrooms for about 5 minutes or until tender. Add spinach, stirring until wilted.
3. Evenly spoon spinach mixture, crawfish, tomatoes, red onion, and cheese on top of crust. Bake 8–10 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is browned.

Terrific Tidbit: Fresh mozzarella cheese may be found in the deli section. It has a different texture and tastes different than the packaged mozzarella cheese. Fresh mozzarella is slightly higher in fat, but I think it is worth the flavor.
